Inflation Reduction Act Home Energy Rebates
The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) includes two U.S. Department of Energy rebate programs: Homeowners Managing Efficiency Savings (HOMES) and Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates (HEAR), which together allocate over $208 million to North Carolina for home energy upgrades. North Carolina’s program, Energy Saver North Carolina (Energy Saver NC), launched in January 2025 and is designed to make it more affordable for eligible households to install cost-effective and energy-saving improvements like heat pumps, electrical panels, insulation, and air sealing.
